Mike Martin serves as pastor, elder, and teacher at Berean Bible Church in Monticello, IA. He and his wife Susan hosted the church family in their home during its early years. For thirty years Mike has been a bi-vocational pastor, engaged in the workplace as well as the ministry.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: This past week a water line burst and flooded a portion of our main meeting room and bathrooms. For now as repairs and drying are being completed we will be unable to use our facility.
Sunday morning August 2 we will hold ONE SERVICE ONLY on the church grounds beginning at 10:00 AM. There will be Porta Potties available but no access to the building or inside bathrooms.
We invite you to join us as we worship in the open air. Please bring your own chair and we will be practicing social distancing. Face masks are recommended but not required.
Preparations are being made to re-open our building for Sunday morning worship on June 14. There will be no Sunday school classes for any age group until further notice.
We will be offering 2 service times for you to choose from—the first service will begin at 9:00 AM and the second will begin at 10:40 AM.
Important: In an attempt to balance the number of worshipers in attendance at each service we are asking you to make reservations in advance.
Please contact us with your preference of the service time you are choosing. If you will be joining us with other members of your household please provide their names as well.
We will be spreading out the seating in the sanctuary in order to follow recommendations for adequate social distancing, and we ask that you sit together in a family unit. Children must sit with their parents.
We are planning an outdoor gathering for worship to take place on the church grounds Sunday evening June 7 at 6:00 PM. This informal “fireside” event will include a short talk by Mike, singing, sharing, and prayer.
Please bring your own chairs. We will spread out and we would like to have families sit together by household units to observe adequate social distancing. We will not be using the inside of the building for this meeting except for bathroom use.
We are beginning this way in order to prepare ourselves for moving inside the building the following Sunday (more details on how that will work later).
We hope to see you there! Please call, text, or email with questions.
On June 7 at 6:00 PM Berean Bible Church will re-open with an evening service outside at our location on 16107 County Road E16 Monticello. This will be an informal service with singing and preaching followed by a time of fellowship around a fire-pit in the church yard. This will all be done while practicing the recommended precautions including social distancing.
We will also continue posting audio sermons for the foreseeable future. More information will be provided about other services as we continue through the summer.
Berean Bible Church plans to re-open with a modified schedule for worship on Sunday May 31st. This will be a simple service without scheduled Sunday school classes. Other modifications and adjusted times will be posted during the last week of May.
Please be assured that we understand and respect the fact that some of you may choose not to come to public worship at this time due to various issues regarding your own health or the health of others in your life. We will continue to post sermons on Facebook and our website during this time.
For now we will continue to meet by Zoom for Wednesday evening prayer at 6:30. I will also continue to post Sunday messages by Saturday afternoon each week.
Thank you for your faithfulness and prayer. May the unity and love of God’s people continue!
